NewsDenmark "ONeill the Crowning 2010" interview

After Tarifa I planned to go to Jamaica, in the Carribean. A place I always wanted to visit and see how kiting would be possible there. When we arrived on the south of the island, called Long Bay Beach, me and Antoine were probably the first kite surfers ever on that beach!

Training @ Dakhla!
Dakhla is situated in the Moroccan Sahara and is definitely a very good spot for kitesurfing. I dicided to come here for about 10 days to enjoy the constant wind conditions, somwhere close to Europe. We've had super nice sunny weather and wind almost every day so far.

Hawaii! Wind, waves and nature.
After a long flight, with lots of crazy passport controlls, I arrived last week on Maui, Hawaii. It is a beautifull island with an amazing nature. Passed days I've had the great experience of being in the water with dolphins, sea turtles and even some wales around us!

Yacht man 2009 public vote!
The Sailing magazine 'Varen' just announced I am nominated for the trophee of Yacht man 2009. The final decision will be made 50by a judging team and 50by text message voting to the number 00326687 (until 8 Feb.) with message 'MALE 5'

KPWT FINAL Morocco
From the 5th to the 13th of December we had the final stop of this year's Kiteboard Pro World Tour (KPWT) in Essaouira, Morocco. Unfortunately we could only finish a single elemination.

Silver at KPWT world cup Morocco
Last week I was in Dakhla for the 3rd last stop of the KPWT world cup. Even though my knee is a little injuredI took part to the contest and managed to even get some good results. In freestyle I became 2nd and in sliders I managed to get a third place!
Belgium Champion 2009
For the freestyle national championships in Belgium we had two weekends, with very good conditions on the first two days. I was riding mainly my 9 and had a very good time on the water. The heats went great and I won from Steve in the finals. This is my 4th Belgium champion title so far.
KPWT Dunkerque!
After a week with lots of rain, sunshine and in the end also a little wind, the competition in Dunkerque here came to an end. Not so happy with my 5th place here but it proved to me that I should really be working on my low wind riding as well!

Silver at KPWT Spain!
At the second stop of the KPWT world tour, in Tarifa-Spain, I managed to make it up to a silver place.
The competition was awesome with extremely good poniente conditions and a great atmosphere.
I won from Peter Tyukjevich, Nacarato, Alex paster and lost finals against Mike Blomvall.
Great feeling to be back on the podium.
A pretty dissapointing competition for me :)

Report Radio 2
Every year, we have one day reserved in Belgium for watersports. This year I had the chance making a report about kitesurfing on Radio 2. Thanks again to them for being so nice, I had a good time.
Belgium champion Race 2009!!
For the first time we had a racing championschip in Belgium, with an official Belgium Champion.
I had the honor riding Sven Anton his raceboard and was the first Belgian rider in every race.

Little trip to Cape of Good Hope
As the forecast for yesterday looked not so good again in Cape Town, we decided to move a little and go for a little visit at Cape Point.
The goal was to have a little tourist day, but in the end we even found some beach at the National Park and I managed to have a small waveride session in this extremely beautiful Park.

I arrived in Cape Town 3 days ago, after a crazy flight and lots of delays becaus of the strong snow fall in London.
Here I already had some very good sessions with super good conditions.

U.L.M. Flight
Titi, the owner and shaper of Woodyfish gave me a very cool present for my Birthday last year. I had the chance to make a little flight with a ULM plane.
Yesterday the weather was perfect so I decided to make the flight. Is an absolute awesume feeling, the plane is so reactive and such a sensation to feel the wind shaking us at such a hight!

Surgery successful!
About exactly one year ago I broke my ankle on a training session in South Africa.
The doctors had to put screws and a little plate in my leg.
To make absolutely sure no further problems would take place, the plate has been removed again.
Also my wisdom teeth have been removed during the surgery.
The healing process is going very good, my mouth can go open/smile again and even running and dancing is possible again.

KPWT Vice World Champion freestyle 2008!!!
From the 1-9the of November, the last stop of the Kiteboard Pro World Tour was held in Marokko. Leander made it again in the finals but lost from Richman (USA)
As this is my first year riding in the World Cup I am more than only happy with this result!

23/10 - Report "Malibu & O'Neill the Crowning"
From the 15-19th of October, the O'Neill crew decides, in collaboration with Malibu, to move Belgium's 130 best riders in all surf disciplines to the island of Jersey.
On Wednesday about 20 camper vans left the O'Neill Belgium station urley in the morning.
Again, one of Belgiums best (kite)surf competitions ever!

Past week I also had some fun trying some kiteloops on short lines, and riding a self made slider.

08/09 Tennis/(kite!) elbow
In 6 days the competition will start here in Cubuco, Brazil. I flew over some time in advance, but unfortunatly I havn't been able to kite a lot. My elbow was hurting past month (tennis/kite elbow). Luckily I am kiting again now and everything feels OK.

When I arrived in Belgium i found this nice thing at my homespot.

Last two weeks I have been in Portugal for the KPWT wavemasters.
Lots of big names were present on the event ex. Martin Vari.
I had a lot of fun and some very good riding sessions at Guincho. But at the spot of the competition there was unfortunatly not enough wind to finish the competition.

We had competition on a spot, about 40 km from Istambul, called Burc Beach. A nice beach with beatiful kickers coming in.
