Welcome! And thanks for visiting my website.

Day 5,

Or is this day 6?

Well nothing much interesting happened on the competition side for me. Freestyle is over. I managed to have a kind of come back in the Wave double elemination, but they didn't finish that.

I had some great days after all, and the party on Saturday was insane.

What an exhausting week that was :)

I am so dissapointed about the result I made, and I can't wait to get the judges critics into reality.

I also think to have a clearer view about the criteria which scores best now, and hopefully I can be ready before Tarifa with some new tricks.

Day 4,

Hey,

Yesterday we continued the double eleminations. The wind was actually really good, for my 9 meter and I was really enjoying my time on the water before the heat.

To make a long story short, I just had a very bad heat. Terribly bad actually. I started with my nine in the heat when the wind dropped a little bit and I could barely get through the shorebreak. I only did 5 tricks, which was clearly not enough to advance. Bad start of the year for me, but I did at least enjoy some good riding outside the contest.

Day 3

/

Day 2,

hello :)

Yesterday we started freestyle very soon after my first update. The wind eventually picked up to about 20knotts, but the chop was soo ennoying and big.

I felt pretty comfortable on the water and landed most of my tricks in every heat. My first heat was against a local guy and the second heat was against the Domenican Corniel Bobo. I was pleased with my riding in the heat, also in the next one against Mitu Monteiro, who is normally mainly riding waves and not freestyle.

I was already preparing for the next as I surely advanced, when I heard I didn't. This must have been the weardest decision from the judges I'd ever had. We have been talking about this decision together, in the evening that day, together with Jesse as he was also shocked with that decision. I managed to get a little better look on what the judges are scoring for, but still I didn't get it completely.

I just hope for the next heats I will be able to know what the judges look for exactly and I hope to improve my results in the double eleminations.

After a small drink in a local club here on the island, I've slept in Jesse's living room, a lot better than my tent last night :)

It is sunny today and even a little bit warmer as well. The wind is very light and as soon as it pics up a little bit, they want to start the races.

Have a nice day,

Leander

Day 1,

Hello,

I'll try to do some short updates through my website here every day now.

Right now I am sitting in front of our breakfast, the first morning of the first stop of the Kiteboard Pro World Tour. Looks like lots of riders came over from about everywhere, most competitors in KPWT history they told me :)

Outside it is looking good, sunny weather and a nice breeze, about 17 knotts but it is SO COLD!

I slept in my tent tonight on a car park floor, and even with my jumper, long pants and jacket on, I was still cold the whole night and woke up with the sun here, which is pretty early in the morning.

I hope i'm not too tired today and I think they will start off with freestyle soon.

Hope you all enjoy your time,

Leander

Little trip to Cape of Good Hope

As the forecast for yesterday looked not so good again in Cape Town, we decided to move a little and go for a little visit at Cape Point.

The goal was to have a little tourist day, but in the end we even found some beach at the National Park and I managed to have a small waveride session in this extremely beautiful Park.

U.L.M. Flight

Titi, the owner and shaper of Woodyfish gave me a very cool present for my Birthday last year. I had the chance to make a little flight with a ULM plane.

Yesterday the weather was perfect so I decided to make the flight. Is an absolute awesume feeling, the plane is so reactive and such a sensation to feel the wind shaking us at such a hight!

Surgery successful!

About exactly one year ago I broke my ankle on a training session in South Africa.

The doctors had to put screws and a little plate in my leg.

To make absolutely sure no further problems would take place, the plate has been removed again.

Also my wisdom teeth have been removed during the surgery.

The healing process is going very good, my mouth can go open/smile again and even running and dancing is possible again.

I am riding the full set of Prima Donna II. They allow me to do all freestyle moves. The kites are very stable, easy controllable.
